Oriental Flavour

Design Objectives
Our objective was to create a visually pleasing functional design with an oriental flavour.

We wanted to provide a relaxing view from the upstairs deck as well as the lower level patio and rooms.

Our client required access to the backyard from the basement as well as a dog run.

We wanted to incorporate a series of pools with a large waterfall while maintaining views of the golf course.

Solutions

By using a series of natural stone steps, softening plant material and accents such as the bamboo bridge, we were able to achieve an oriental flair.

The whole design was pushed out into the yard so that both the upstairs and downstairs views would be maintained. Pools and waterfalls were designed in a meandering fashion giving the views a natural appeal. Lower plant material was chosen in order to maintain the views beyond.

The dog run was moved off to the side with oriental panels to shield the view.

Visually you are moved up the stone steps, traversing the bridge, overlooking the waterfall, and up to the yard beyond giving the whole design a calming meditative quality.
